This course, as part of the research course sequence for Social Work doctoral students, will provide an overview of the research questions and designs using both qualitative and qualitative methods. These two distinct, yet complementary, methods are covered at all stages of the research process, while focusing on a study, developing measurements, sampling, data collection and analysis, and finally, writing the reports. Various research knowledge and techniques will be reviewed, and the issues involving social work research will be discussed, so that the students will not only become the research producers but also the critical consumers, aware of the qualified producers of SW research and the power struggles in the research process.
